How to fill a handball score sheet
- Before the game, write both teams' players with shirt numbers (up to 16) and the officials as A to E. Official A is the responsible team official, who signs the sheet.
- Each goal goes on the scorer's line in the G column and as a new running score with the minute, such as 12:34, 5 to 4. A 7-metre throw is counted as scored out of awarded.
- Warnings (yellow cards), 2-minute suspensions and disqualifications (red, plus blue when a report follows) are written with the time on the clock. Officials' punishments go on their own lines.
- Team time-outs are written as the time on the clock when the green card was taken.
- At half time and at the end, write the score in the boxes, add extra time and 7-metre throws if played, and ask the referees and both responsible officials to sign.
Here you tap instead: pick the entry (Goal, 7m goal, 2 min and so on), then the shirt number. Every tap is checked against the rules, and the report prints with the totals and times filled in. The layout follows the IHF match report; if your competition has its own form, copy the figures onto it.

Questions
How long is a handball match?
Two halves of 30 minutes for players aged 16 and over, 25 minutes for ages 12 to 16 and 20 minutes for ages 8 to 12, with a 10-minute break (rule 2:1). If a winner is needed after a draw, extra time is two halves of 5 minutes, and a second extra time follows if it is still level (rule 2:2).
How many team time-outs are there in handball?
One 1-minute team time-out per team in each half, and none in extra time (rule 2:10). Federations may allow three per match instead, at most two in a half and only one in the last 5 minutes. Pick the rule your competition uses in the setup.
How many yellow cards can a handball team get?
One warning per player and three for the players of a team; after that the punishment is at least 2 minutes. A player who has had 2 minutes gets no warning, and the team officials get one warning between them (rule 16:1). The scorer refuses a warning that breaks these limits and says why.
Does a 2-minute suspension carry over to the second half?
Yes. A suspension is 2 minutes of playing time, so the clock must be running. Time left at half time is served at the start of the second half, and the same goes into extra time (rule 16:5). A player still suspended when extra time ends may not take part in 7-metre throws.
What happens after three 2-minute suspensions?
The third suspension of the same player is also a disqualification (rules 16:5 and 16:6d). The player takes no further part, and the team plays one short for those 2 minutes. Here the red card is added for you on the third 2 minutes.
What does a blue card mean in handball?
The referee shows it after a red card when the disqualification will be reported in writing (rule 16:8), for the most serious offences. On the score sheet it goes in the BC column. Every disqualification during playing time also leaves the team one player short for 2 minutes.
How do 7-metre throws decide a tied handball match?
Each team names five players who are not suspended or disqualified. They throw one each, alternately, after a coin toss. If still level after five each, five more are named, the other team starts, and the first difference after an equal number of throws wins (rule 2:2).
